Brilliant Books

I just finished re-reading To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. It's been a good ten years since I last read it, which is a shame, because it's amazing. On it's face, it's a simple story about a small town, but at it's core, it's an anthem to equality, love and the beauty of life. If you haven't read it, or haven't read it for a while, I challenge you to do so. Soon. You won't regret it.

I first read To Kill a Mockingbird in the 5th grade. It was on a reading list. (I wouldn't encounter it in school until grade 8). I still remember the feelings it in evoked in me; how it changed my view of the world. I think my view of tolerance and acceptance started by reading To Kill a Mockingbird and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry in the same year. Both are beautifully written and significantly important. Now I want to reread them both!

It's been a long time since I read To Kill a Mockingbird, but I am thinking I ought to fix that. Hmm.

Great assessment of this amazing American Classic. I have read it so many times, but maybe it is time to pick it up again - I also LOVE the movie. I think it is exceptionally well-done. Gotta love Gregory Peck! sorry I disappeared from FB for a week or so. I was freaking out about some big problems on my computer, and of course, decided to blame them all on the FB connection. I'm over my tantrum now, though.

One of my all time favorites. One day I plan to find my Atticus.
